Petition to terminate Prof Ian Symonds from Newcastle University

We hereby sign this petition to permanently terminate the employment Prof Ian Symonds from Newcastle University here in Aussie as the Head of school here at Newcastle University.

We can see that the guys at https://year4jmp.wordpress.com/ have tried to start a blog (albeit unsuccessfully) to allow students to post their opinions about various staffs Prof Joerg Mattes, Prof Ian Symonds, Julie Mills (Tabelands Clinical School), Loretta Giblin (Peel Clinical School), Alison Hammond (Manning Clinical School), Glynis Chocholowski (Maitland Clinical School), Mel Kerr (Hunter Clinical School), Deidre Abel (Central Coast Clinical School), Assoc Prof Robert Pickles, Dr Jon Gani, Maddy Madeleine Leitch (Year 4 Manager). It seems like when you try to post a comment, it won’t show because the website isn’t being actively maintained. Because of all the people who are thoroughly disappointed with what Ian Symonds has done to the medicine course, we are starting this petition, because the school has done NOTHING to address our concerns.

Just some really important things:

It’s really important that when posting you do not use University computers, because all of what you do on a computer or even on the wi fi connection is recorded

Don’t even use your home internet connection, because if you’re also accessing your University stuff, they will make the connection between the 2 and you’ll get busted

The best thing to do is to go to Hungry Jacks or McDonalds and use their wifi connection, and during that time, make sure you don’t access your University email or even personal accounts (the University may be in cahoots with the Police, who may “accidentally” leak your information to the University)

Never talk about this stuff through email or even Facebook. Facebook is more trustworthy than University email because… the University can access everything you post, and their computing forensic team will literally dig through all of the associated keywords. However, there are “backstabbing” students that we have identified who are trying to “screw” other students over (beware of these people)

Don’t get busted, because if you do, as one student put it, based upon Ian Symonds’ past action against student, he will literally try to “annihilate” you and your entire career. He will try to report you to the medical board and stop you from gaining your medical licence anywhere in the world, if not try to kick you out of the University. This guy is NOT to be trusted

Whenever you get the chance, please “re-post” this content. Just like the Vietnam War, if we have hundreds of copies of this content throughout the Internet, the University will have a much smaller chance (and even give up attempts) of trying to remove content that they deem to “defame” them (even though it is blatantly obviously that this clearly falls under our rights of Free Speech relevant to all Australians people because their tax pays for our studies)

Feel free when you email or talk with teachers to raise that you are aware of this blog. If enough of us raise awareness, we will all become aware of it, and so will the faculty. It is no use to have a website which nobody knows about

When you re-post content, try to include the staffs names, because for example as you can see when you search for “Michelle Guppy UNE” (Year 3 coordinator for first semester) you get a lot of results including “Kick Michelle Guppy out of UNE!!!!” (http://www.my-cause.com/kick_michelle_guppy_out_of_une), “Keeping the UNE JMP honest” (https://unejmp.wordpress.com/2014/07/02/michelle-guppy/), “UNE scandal (http://www.petitionbuzz.com/petitions/unejmp), “Scrap the disastrous Year 3 of the UoN JMP” (http://www.thepetitionsite.com/259/045/860/scrap-the-disastrous-year-3-of-the-uon-jmp-and-move-to-a-md-degree/). This helps to raise awareness so that when fellow researchers and academics are searching for staffs they will find out about the “truth” about these people. This puts tremendous politics pressure on to staff, which is very helpful for us, or they will just ignore us and not do anything, if they know the wider public (and people they work with) will find out about their disastrous relationship with students

Whenever you include dates on posts, or at least have the option to choose the date, try and backdate the post a little bit so they can not use a statistical method to correlate when you make a post. The truth is that it is really hard to “bust” someone with this method, but just be careful it is possible. This was something the guys at “NewcastleMedicine” worked out the hard way (they had to stop the blog as a result of it)

Never ever incude your real name, in fact do not include any name when posting (you can do so anonymously), or you will just make yourself a target to be attacked. Remember why the group “Anonymous” is successful. It is because they are all identified as “Anonymous” as a group, and no one particular person can be identified

Remember that your colleagues are your friends. If we stick together, we will overturn the dictator Ian Symonds, and have the University cease his employment contract

For legal reasons, please note that comments written by students are only their opinions, and should not be treated as facts. The authors of the blog are not responsible for what students write, and only providing a facility for students to raise awareness for systematic problems at the University of Newcastle course caused by Ian Symonds.

Related websites:

Michelle Guppy: The most UNFAIR lecture you will get (https://michelleguppy.wordpress.com)

Keeping the JMP honest (https://unejmp.wordpress.com) the “original” website that started it all

Keeping the Newcastle “JMP” Medicine honest (https://newcastlemedicine.wordpress.com) probably the most popular/successful website to date

Remember to include important key words in any post you make, for example, always including the words “Michelle Guppy”. If you do so, this can become a way we can uniquely identify posts, such as with this Google search for “site:wordpress.com “michelle guppy”

One other thing, please note that even though you “can” say whatever you want to, you should only say the truth. Staff are still peoples, and we recommend you do not use rude language (it is not necessary). Using rude language just makes it harder to take what you say seriously and it reflects poorly on the University. We just want to provide a platform for which students can make complaints against the University, because the internal methods, and focus groups are not working. Why don’t they work? Because students know that nothing has happened based upon previous complaints, and just keep on complaining will cause the faculty to identify particular “problem” students who are then “blacklisted”. This is a problem with the culture of the University itself, and something has to be done about it from the top. Also, do not defame staffs with untrue facts. If you say something that is outright untrue, it jeopardises the existence of this blog, and makes it more likely to be removed. Remember to include only your opinion. And even better, make it so staff can apply it. Do not include personal attacks. Or talk about things that are unchangeable. Also, try not to include things not related to the staff’s performance (e.g. what they dress like or look like), because it damages the reputation of this blog.

One thing you need to understand about “politics” is that each person has their “Achilles heel”. Doctors in particular need to be registered with an agency called AHPRA (Australian health Practitioner Regulation Agency). You can find specific practitioners here:

http://www.medicalboard.gov.au/

I did this for our Year 4 course coordinator “friends”:

Dr Ian Martin Symonds

Joerg Mattes is another academic who’s susceptibility comes in the form of his research publications. By getting in touch with co-authors, you can put political pressure against him. Particularly because he is a full time “research academic” he relies almost 100% on his ability to find funding. He has received:

Because Joerg Mattes has had numerous co-authors, it's best to target the "top co-authors" which includes 49 papers with Paul S Foster (University of Newcastle), 28 papers with Adam Colison (University of Newcastle), 15 papers with Maximillian Plank (University of Newcastle), 14 papers with Joachim Kuehr (Staedtisches Klinikum Karls), and 11 papers with Ming Yang (University of Newcastle)

As you’d expect, because Jonathan Gani is “conjoint” staff he isn’t as involved in research publications… but not to fear! Working in the private sector is EVEN more susceptible to “political” tools. There are websites such as RateMDs.com (https://www.ratemds.com/doctor-ratings/3600931/Dr-Jon-Gani-Newcastle-NSW.html). You can also contact other staff where he practices, including at Surgery Central (http://surgerycentral.co/) which includes Dr Costa Karihaloo (http://www.newcastlesurgeon.com.au/), Dr Christine O’Neill (http://www.drchrisoneill.com/), Dr Adeeb Majid (http://www.adeebmajid.com/), Nicole West (dietician), Cathy Harbury (dietician)

You can also try to target where he gets reserach grants from: State Cancer Council Grant, National Health & Medical Research Council Grant, John Hunter Hospital Charitable Trust

And research paper co-writers: Morrison JM, Gillies JR, Anseline PF and Bissett RL, Burns GF, Fowler PR, Steinberg AW, Nanra RG, Hibberd AD, Sugrue M, Gani J, Sarre R, Watts J., . Sorry Paul, you’re right… THAT’s what we mean by a f*cking psychopath!!!It is correct that Joerg’s CURRENT page does NOT brag about his H-factor or number of high impact articles he has published in…BUTIf we look at the 6th of October 2013 revision of his webpage (https://web.archive.org/web/20130906130008/http://www.newcastle.edu.au/profile/joerg-mattes). Joerg says… “I have published in high impact journals [e.g. J Exp Med, Nat Med, JACI, PNAS] that have been cited more than one thousand three hundred times. My H-factor is 20 highlighting the significance”

Yes this bragging about his “high impact journals”, and “citations”, and “H-factor” has been removed… this bragging bullshit.. but you can still see remnants of his psychopathic tendency with this sentence even STILL on the current page (don’t worry, by the time you read his page it will probably be removed):”We have successful national and international collaborations that are documented by publications in the highest-ranking medical science journals.”

Drs Paul Foster, Adam Collison, Maximillian Plank, Joachim Kuehr, and Ming Yang:

I wish to write to you about a Joerg Mattes.

I wanted to warn you of this psychopath and to let you know to “avoid him at all costs” before he “screws” you over, as he has done with some students in the medical course he teaches at University of Newcastle. This sort of people who treats people nicely in front of their face and back stabs them behind their back is to be AVOIDED at all costs!!!!

In the MCQ exam, he was involved with scaling students down by 40%. F*CKING 40%!!! This meant that an 89% score would be scaled down to a 49%. At uni level usually >85% is a HD. So a student who scored HD has now failed…

And guess why?

Because Joerg Mattes is too busy writing these research papers with you, publishing books, and “bragging” about his list of research articles…

So they repeat the same f*cking questions in the MCQ paper each and every f*cking year so that you can almost guess 99% of the paper…

On his official web page (https://www.newcastle.edu.au/profile/joerg-mattes) he even brags about how he has “published in high impact journals [e.g. J Exp Med, Nat Med, JACI, PNAS] that have been cited more than one thousand three hundred times. My H-factor is 20 highlighting the significance”.

F*CK me, Joerg, aren’t you supposed to be a doctor??! A teacher??! Why are you bragging about how many “high impact journals” you have published in and what your “H-factor” (what the f*ck is that anyway??!)

So why are we targetting YOU? Paul you have co-written 49 papers with this psychopath. Adam, 28. Maximillian, 15. Joachim, 14. Ming, 11. You are at risk of jeopardising your career if you continue to associate with this psychopathic f*ck!

We will continue to follow what you do. If you continue publishing papers with him… we’ll give you 1 year’s “grace”. But if we notice your name tagged with his in a 2016 publication, we will ask our constituency to BOYCOTT you directly. If you want to look at how large our constituency is, read this document (pastebin.com/mFE54BDF). Don’t worry about counting, there are 2,000 emails on there, including all UoN and UNE medical staff and students.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Cheers,

John Vashti

Drs Anthony Proietto, Katie Ashton, Rodney Scott, Mark McEvoy, Mark Tobin:

I wish to write to you about a Ian Symonds.

Because Ian Symonds is too busy writing these research papers with you, publishing books… So they repeat the same f*cking questions in the MCQ paper each and every f*cking year so that you can almost guess 99% of the paper…

More recently Ian Symonds was wasting our taxpayer dollars by taking a student (BKY) to court – this was just last year, 2014! You can find the court case on Austlii (http://www.austlii.edu.au/cgi-bin/sinodisp/au/cases/nsw/NSWCATAD/2014/39.html). He made a fucking embarasment of the school, involving Tracey Bristow, Louise Morgan, Melissa Kerr. Anyway, the court found that this dickhead was DISCRIMINATING against people with disabilities, and told him to fuck off! Does this guy have no shame????? Just “Google” this guy’s name and you will find a list of petitions against him……. Read this https://year4medicine.wordpress.com/2015/07/15/petition-to-terminate-prof-ian-symonds-from-newcastle-university/ Does he know how to run a medical school? Since 2011 (this is when Ian Symonds started as the head of school at Newcastle) he has turned the Newcastle medical school into a JOKE. He looks like a paedophile, and acts that way around young women! One can only wonder why he went into obs & gaeny… PAEDOPHILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, between taking students to court and writing research papers… F*CK me, Ian, aren’t you supposed to be a doctor??! A teacher??! Why are you wasting your time publishing journals and taking students to court???

So why are we targetting YOU? Anthony you have co-written 6 papers with this psychopath. Katie, 6. Rodney, 5. Mark McEvoy (and Mark Tobin), 5. You are at risk of jeopardising your career if you continue to associate with this psychopathic f*ck!

We will continue to follow what you do. If you continue publishing papers with him… we’ll give you 1 year’s “grace”. PS: Mark Tobin (not you McEvoy…), sorry, we couldn’t get a direct email, so shout outs to Danielle Martin, Keith Bambery, and Pimm Vongsvivut also at Synchrotron! Sorry about emailing the generic email!

Replied all-

Anthony, I didn’t call Ian Symonds a paedophile mate ;) you did…..

I only said-

He looks like a paedophile, and acts that way around young women! One can only wonder why he went into obs & gaeny… PAEDOPHILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saying he “looks” like a paedophile and “acts” that way, and contemplating “why he went into O&G” is different from saying he actually is a paedo pal ;)

Robert Pickles unfortunately doesn’t have many research papers or coauthors listed, not surprising because again he is cojoint staff.

He studied at James Ruse, and is Director General Medicine, at John Hunter Hospital. In order to target him, the best option is to target specific NSW staff, which is even given the emails are firstname.lastname@hnehealth.nsw.gov.au. He’s also on the Board of Directors of the IMSANZ (Internal Medicine Society of Australia and NZ)

Other IMSANZ staff include PROFESSOR Don Campbell, Dr john gommans, Associate Professor Tony Ryan, Associate Professor Nick Buckmaster, Dr john gommans,

Dr Robyn Toomath, Dr Andrew Burns, Dr Sarah Buchanan, Dr Michelle Downie, Dr Marion Leighton, Dr Paul Collett , PROFESSOR Don Campbell, Dr Robert Krones. Associate Professor Cam Bennett, Associate Professor Nick Buckmaster, Dr Greg Plowman
