Year 3 of Newcastle medicine needs to be rewritten

Well wasn’t that a bloody awful third year!

The entire year was essentially delivered using video conferencing. One only wonders why a UNE (you read that correctly) lecturer was the course coordinator for the entire first term (WTF?!), even though this person could not be physically accessible to Newcastle students.

The whole second term was hand balled to Nerida Paterson who is one of the most controversial lecturers of all time, so it won’t be long before she receives some interesting feedback here: https://newcastlemedicine.wordpress.com/2014/12/04/nerida-paterson/ Let me begin this by mentioning her sexist comments, put downing of particular male students (has she heard of sexual harassment??), prolific swearing in classes… The worse part is she actually thinks she is funny. A lot of these encounters have been recorded and put on Blackboard so Ian Symonds could actually investigate this if he wasn’t as incompetent as he is (which is probably why Peter McKeown told him to f*** off and quit as the Head Of School at UNE).

And third term which we just finished was hand balled to a TAFE lecturer (Certificate 1-3 Nursing) – Kim Parsons (you can find her on LinkedIn), who is 1) impossible to reach, 2) doesn’t run any classes, with the exception of juvenile games involving an island (I am not making this up at all, we had a game involving Cinnabar Island – yes – from the POKEMON game????), and 3) one wonders whether really certified to COORDINATE an entire term’s subject for medical school! (Ian Symonds must be running out of ideas of who to choose for Course coordinators)

Coursea

Michelle Guppy= feminist ***** who can’t keep her comments to herself. if i were her husband, i would choke this ***** to death, so she could just shut her cunt! seems to have something to say just about anything…

Anyway, Michelle Guppy is one of THE MOST bias and unfair year coordinators of all 5 years. She has certain “favourites” in her class, and if you aren’t one of them, you will find that you’ll get lower marks… won’t have as many opportunity to resubmit assignments… resit exams… you might even fail certain tasks… you might fail the whole entire subject… and have to repeat a year… as in the case of a person I know, who described her as “not very compassionate”

Michelle Guppy is the person who has tried to “assume” the head of school position, following the resignation of Peter McKeown, and after John Nevin also decided to leave

Persis Samuel (the current MedSoc president) has made it very clear that Guppy is also the person who is “behind” the shutting down of the PBL rooms permanently…

I found this statement to be just too funny “Fiona Stewart= she might know a lot, but she finds it difficult to TEACH this information to students, instead getting first year students to teach her post graduate students, in order to humiliate them… this is someone who teaches using humiliation… beware… heard apparently she got booted out of her office, and replaced with a younger teacher recently”

The exam Fiona Stewart (also known as “A-Prof”) sets is ridiculously difficult, and she ought to be FIRED from the JMP

Why set such a difficult exam to HUMILIATE your FIRST YEAR students??? More than 90% of the students fail the exam, which she then re-grades upwards so no one fails. This is the most stupid thing I have ever heard of

Though Fiona Stewart brags about teaching surgical trainees, it is a little known fact that she is NOT a qualified surgeon

Fiona is THE most negative, complaining, asinine, confrontational, dominating, unempathetic b*ch of the entire UNE faculty

I can’t agree any more with the fact that she uses HUMILIATION to teach students… She has admitted that her father use to get her to do surgery on the cat, which could have led into mental problems I suppose, but it doesn’t excuse her narcissistic behaviour…

The whole JMP programme isn’t stupid Fiona… We know that you tried to have Prof McKeown “kicked out” because he was trying to rid the faculty of people who although may have a lot of knowledge, lack a speck of interpersonal functionality

Only someone who is a NUTCASE would set such a hard exam only to have half the class to fail, and drive their anxiety to such a degree that they had to post these online comments.

There are also questions that feature in our exams that are known as the “a-prof” questions, which are those ridiculous questions that you have written in the exam about anatomy, which NO ONE knows the answer to

Also, on the talks of being unfair, it is NOT right that you have a “select” group of students that you elevate to teach other students, because this further drives a gap between the smartest students who you are encouraging further, and the “rest” who you continuously push down
